Hearing Device Instructions
This checklist outlines how to use your smart phone to receive an improved hearing experience while in the Saint Mary Church:
-
Verify that the earpieces of your hearing aids are capable of receiving a ‘Bluetooth’ signal. You may need to get this information from your audiologist or hearing aid manufacturer
-
Go to your smart phone’s ‘App store’ and look for the App called “ListenWIFI.” Download the App on your smart phone.
-
When you want to use the Church’s Bluetooth audio feature perform the following in sequence:
-
In the ‘setting’ menu of your smart phone look for the Saint Mary’s Church WiFi network (St. Mary New Church), enter the password PrayOften (case sensitive) and join the St Mary network.
-
Turn on the Bluetooth feature in your smart phone’s setting menu.
-
Open the ListenWIFI app. You will have a choice of two audio networks: Choose QGYF.
-
You should now be hearing the church audio through your ear pieces. Adjust the volume with your smart phone volume control. This system is now ready to be used at any Saint Mary’s New Church Mass. The smart phone should remember the Saint Mary WiFi password, and you should not have to re-enter it each time you go to Mass.
-
The microphones in your hearing aid will continue to pick up background sounds from within the church, and you will hear both (1) church background sounds and (2) Bluetooth audio. If the Bluetooth audio is not sufficiently discernible above the church background sounds, you may be able to mute the microphones in your hearing aid and hear only the Bluetooth audio. Check with your audiologist or hearing aid manufacturer to ascertain if (and how) the microphones in your hearing aid can be muted. If the hearing aid microphones can be muted, you will hear only the WiFi/Bluetooth signal (the priest’s wireless microphone, the ambo microphone and the cantor’s microphone in the choir loft).
