Gratitude

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Thinking back into one’s childhood, one of the things that often comes to mind is learning to say “thank you.” It seems odd that such a thing has to be a learned behavior. As we grow older and reflect on the love and sacrifices others make for us, I believe it becomes easier to see and appreciate the importance of expressing gratitude to those around us.

First, a word of gratitude on behalf of the whole parish. The Christmas season came to a magnificent end last week with our celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord. As always, the church “elves” outdid themselves in trimming out all three of our beautiful churches. I have to say that I am always in awe of what they do! A special “Thank you!” goes out to all who helped in any way for not only giving hours of their time in making things special for us visually, but also for the equally difficult task of breaking it all down and carefully putting things away until next year.

Second – Last Sunday’s visit from our Bishop went beautifully thanks to the help of so many of you. Sacristans, Mass coordinators, deacons, the best altar servers ever, choir, ushers, and so many more made for glorious Masses. Afterwards, an incredible team came together for a fantastic welcome reception in St. Angela Hall with delicious food on hand for everyone. Thank you to all who helped the parish give such a warm welcome to Bishop Fabre!

My final note of thanks is a personal one. You have all been so gracious in offering your prayers, support, and more to me and my family on the death of my father. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love and support. It is indeed very consoling. For all of our Adorers praying in Ste Claire Chapel, I am glad to announce that we have finally found the “right” kneelers to replace the rather clunky, heavy, and disintegrating ones we have used for decades. We installed a “test” kneeler, and you have expressed your satisfaction. More of these kneelers are on order so that we can outfit the entire chapel.

For those of you who have hearing aids with Bluetooth capability, we should be finally ready to connect you directly to our sound system. Please watch for more information. This should be of great help to many and even easier than the current aids we use.

Also, I am happy to announce that in addition to the columbarium niches we have in the rose garden next to the church, we now have columbarium niches available at our Calvary Cemetery, where so many generations of the parish are laid to rest. Gratefully yours in Christ,

Queridos hermanos en Cristo,

Pensando en la infancia de uno, una de las cosas que a menudo viene a la mente es aprender a decir "gracias". Parece extraño que tal cosa tenga que ser un compor-tamiento aprendido. A medida que envejecemos y re-flexionamos sobre el amor y los sacrificios que otros hacen por nosotros, creo que se vuelve más fácil ver y apreciar la importancia de expresar gratitud a quienes nos rodean.

Primero, una palabra de agradecimiento de parte de toda la parroquia. La temporada navideña llegó a un magnífico final la semana pasada con nuestra cele-bración de la Epifanía del Señor. Como siempre, los "duendes" de la iglesia se superaron a sí mismos al ador-nar nuestras tres hermosas iglesias. ¡Tengo que decir que siempre estoy asombrado de lo que hacen! Un es-pecial "¡Gracias!" Agradecemos a todos los que ayudaron de alguna manera no solo por dedicar horas de su tiempo a hacer que las cosas fueran especiales pa-ra nosotros visualmente, sino también por la igualmente difícil tarea de quitar todo y guardarlo con cuidado hasta el próximo año.

Segundo: la visita de nuestro obispo del domingo pas-ado salió muy bien gracias a la ayuda de muchos de ustedes. Sacristánes, coordinadores de Misas, diáconos, los mejores monaguillos, coros, ujieres y muchos más ayudaron para que viviéramos Misas gloriosas. Luego, un equipo increíble se reunió para una fantástica recep-ción de bienvenida en Sta. Ángela con deliciosa comida disponible para todos. ¡Gracias a todos los que ayudaron a la parroquia a dar una cálida bienvenida al obispo Fabre!

Mi nota final de agradecimiento es personal. Todos ustedes han sido muy amables al ofrecer sus oraciones, apoyo y más a mí y a mi familia por la muerte de mi pa-dre. Desde el fondo de mi corazón, gracias por su amor y apoyo. De hecho, es muy consolador.

Para todos los adoradores que oran en la Capilla de Sta. Claire, me complace anunciar que finalmente hemos encontrado los reclinatorios "correctos" para reemplazar los más bien torpes, pesados y desintegrados que hemos usado durante décadas. Instalamos un reclinato-rio de “prueba” y han expresado su satisfacción. Se están ordenando más de estos reclinatorios para que podamos equipar toda la capilla.

Para aquellos de ustedes que tienen audífonos con ca-pacidad Bluetooth, finalmente pronto estaremos listos para conectarlos directamente a nuestro sistema de sonido. Estén atentos a más información. Esto será de gran ayuda para muchos e incluso más fácil que las ayudas que actualmente usamos.

Además, me complace anunciar que además de los nichos de columbario que tenemos en el jardín de rosas al lado de la iglesia, ahora tenemos nichos de colum-bario disponibles en nuestro cementerio Calvary, donde descansan tantas generaciones de la parroquia.
