His Mercy Endures Forever

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It’s back! Sunday, May 1: Come and join your parish family for our now-again-annual Parish Picnic! After two years of cancellations, we finally can have a family reunion of sorts. Our theme this year is “One Family in Christ.” Please note the special Mass schedule for the day! Mass will be at 11:30am (not a typo) and is followed by our May Procession and May Crowning. You are encouraged to bring flowers from home for the procession and crowning. Our special guests will be all of our young boys and girls who the day before will have received their First Holy Communion.

After we crown the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, there will be good food, family time, child-centered activities, and the opportunity to mingle with our marvelous parish family. A boxed sandwich lunch will be provided by the parish. Families are encouraged to bring any additional snacks or drinks they would like for themselves as well as picnic blankets and chairs. Make it a real picnic!

PLEASE NOTE – VERY IMPORTANT: Mass schedule for next weekend: Sat, Apr 30: vigil 5:00pm Mass as normal; May 1: 8:30am and 11:30am. (Note that the 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 5:00pm Masses are being combined into one Mass at 11:30am.)

How beautiful it was to see the church so full for Easter Masses! If you are new to Aiken, if you have just found St. Mary’s, or if you’ve been coming but never thought about it, please register with the parish so that we can keep you informed of the latest happenings. You can do this online at our website. Also, you will receive a copy of our diocesan magazine, The Catholic Miscellany, full of great articles about our faith in Christ and the good people of the diocese.

Please continue to pray for Bishop-elect Jacques Fabre, who will be ordained and installed as the fourteenth Bishop of Charleston on Friday, May 13. Due to limited capacity, attendance at the ordination will be by ticket issued through the diocese. As I am writing this, we are not yet certain how many seats will be available for our parish. However, the ordination will be livestreamed. Stay tuned!

Be part of the flock with Flocknote! Text the word AIKEN to the number 84576, and then click on the link to choose the ministries or groups you would like to join or stay in touch with.

Finally, today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Please join us this afternoon at 3pm in the church (138 Fairfield St. SE) for a Holy Hour of Mercy, including the sung chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His mercy endures forever.” Ps. 107:1
