Thirsting For Jesus

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

First, an update on the location of Perpetual Adoration: A couple of weeks ago, an electrical problem in Old St. Mary’s made it necessary for us to move Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (back) to St. Claire Chapel. Thanks to everyone for your flexibility, and thank you for taking the precautions necessary to allow us to continue Adoration during the pandemic, even in a smaller space. By the time you read this, repairs to Old St. Mary’s should have begun. We hope to have our beloved old church up and running again soon.

Did you know that this past March 4th marked twenty-five years since our parish began Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament every hour of every day of the week? It has been such a blessing to so many people! Day and night Jesus dwells in the Most Blessed Sacrament because you are the most important person in the world to Him. “Perpetual Adoration extends its influence far beyond the individual adorers, touching their homes and families and reaching out to the parish community and beyond (Pope Paul VI). He is really there! “I myself am the living Bread come down from heaven” (John 6:35). For more information on how you can sign up for your weekly hour with Jesus, please contact Ivy Monahon at 803-649-4157 or jjmonahon@mindspring.com. Also, the chapel for Adoration is open to the public anytime during daylight hours.

For those watching our livestream Masses and other events at home, I would like to thank you for your patience. We are always looking at ways to improve your experience. Most of the time, it all goes off without a hitch. However, from time-to-time either we experience technical difficulties on our end, or sometimes there are difficulties with an individual’s internet. Thank you for “hanging in there.” If you are in town, recall that our churches are open for prayer, and you can safely visit. Swing by for a visit to Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament, light a candle, and pray. One day soon, we will all be together again.

Finally, a reminder: You may receive a text or email claiming to be from me with a vague request to reply “as soon as you can,” or similar words. The person behind it will ask for money, usually in the form of gift cards. Please know this is not me, it is not my address or phone number, and I will never request money through media. It’s sad to see people preying upon your wonderful generosity. Stay generous, and stay alert! As Jesus put it, “Be as wise as serpents, and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16).

Praying for each other,

Father Wilson

Padre Wilson
