(Doctrinal Note on Some Aspects of Evangelization) |
...[E]vangelizing means bringing the Good News of Jesus into every human situation and seeking to convert individuals and society by the divine power of the Gospel itself. At its essence are the proclamation of salvation in Jesus Christ and the response of a person in faith, which are both works of the Spirit of God. Evangelization must always be directly connected to the Lord Jesus Christ. "There is no true evangelization if the name, the teaching, the life, the promises, the Kingdom and the mystery of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God are not proclaimed." Conversion is the change of our lives that comes about through the power of the Holy Spirit. All who accept the Gospel undergo change as we continually put on the mind of Christ by rejecting sin and becoming more faithful disciples in his Church. Unless we undergo conversion, we have not truly accepted the Gospel. ...[T]his is crucial: we must be converted and we must continue to be converted! We must let the Holy Spirit change our lives! We must respond to Jesus Christ. And we must be open to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit who will continue to convert us as we follow Christ. If our faith is alive, it will be aroused again and again as we mature as disciples. We can only share what we have received; we can hold on to our faith only if it continues to grow. "But if salt loses its taste," Jesus asked, "with what can it be seasoned?" (USCCB) |
| St. Mary's Evangelization Team is under the direction of our Pastor, Fr. James L. LeBlanc.
Every ministry and individual in our parish is called to be a Witness of the Good News proclaimed by Jesus Christ. The Evangel Team has engaged in direct "one-on-one Witnessing," both to those in the wider City of Aiken Community and to our own parishioners, during three separate Events:
